We specialise in translation of technical, accounting, IT and advertising material, but accept projects in most branches and areas. We also provide proofreading, linguistic revision and similar services, as well as desktop and artwork production.

We are ISO-certified and only work with translators who fulfil your demands and expectations. The facts, message, purpose and linguistic quality, must match the original information. In addition to linguistic skills, we also require that our translators have practical experience and relevant technical knowledge in the fields for which they translate.

Translation to Swedish

As a Swedish language service provider, many of our translations are into Swedish. We have inhouse translators who are knowledgeable about many technical areas. We translate from most EU languages into Swedish.

Translation to English

Translation from Swedish to English is the most common language combination. Practically all of our customers have had a translation made to English. Please remember to specify if the translation should be to British or American English. For translations to American English, our customers often request measurement conversions from metric to American standard.

Translation to German

Teknotrans AB has worked with many large companies in Germany for over thirty years. We therefore have extensive experience and expertise translating to and from German. We are most active in the automotive industry in Germany, but also translate to German for Swedish companies exporting to Germany.

Translation to Chinese

We frequently have requests for translations into Chinese. There are two forms of Chinese: simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese. The difference between them is that simplified Chinese is only used on the mainland, whereas traditional Chinese is used in Taiwan, Hong Kong and in all other markets.

Translation to other languages

Teknotrans AB translates to and from most languages. We handle all European languages as well as most major Asian and Middle Eastern languages (for example Japanese, Thai, Korean, traditional and simplified Chinese, Arabic, Persian, Kurdish and Hebrew).

Files and Formats

We aim to provide language services for all of your information needs, regardless of file format. We can handle everything from a word processed document, a simple printed leaflet, user instructions or an advanced production in the form of a series of large technical manuals or handbooks. We naturally work with all media, including software and websites.

We understand and use most file formats and applications, for both PC and Macintosh:

Desktop publishing. We have the latest versions of most applications, for example FrameMaker, FrameMaker+SGML, InDesign, PageMaker, QuarkXPress. We can also translate associated captions, etc., in EPS or other vector formats (Illustrator, CorelDRAW etc.).
Microsoft Office. We translate documents created in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and FrontPage.
Tagged formats. We work with HTM, HTML, DHTML, SHTML, XHTML, XML, SGML, WML, PHP, ASPX, TEX etc, including JavaScript and similar file types as well as RSC, DLG and properties files.

Various standardised formats, such as TXT, RTF and CSV are also used.
We use translation memory software/CAT-tools, such as Trados, SDLX and Transit.

Tips and Advice

There are a number of things to keep in mind when ordering a translation. For example, it is always useful to provide reference material such as previously translated manuals, handbooks, leaflets or similar. Illustrations are often a great help when translating technical procedures!

Please ask us how you can best prepare your documents/texts. Should special terminology be used? Is there a glossary or would it be useful for you if we compiled one? Do you have internal regulations for your documents that we should take into consideration? What is the purpose of the translation – who is the target group? Is there documented target group feedback from any previous translations?

It is important that the geographic differences between languages are taken into consideration. Do you wish to translate to British or American English? Brazilian Portuguese? Mexican Spanish? Such questions should be included in your marketing plans and strategy. An example of this is if you are translating to French for the Canadian market. In such a situation, a measurement conversion would be advisable, since both metric and imperial systems are used in Canada. Teknotrans AB personnel will be pleased to help you.
